UPAA awards Raya Martin as one of the 2017 Outstanding Alumni for Culture and the Arts awardee

As part of its long standing tradition of honor and excellence, UP Diliman takes center stage in Linggo ng Parangal, a week-long festivity to recognize the outstanding performance of its faculty, Research and Extension Professional Staff (REPS), students, staff and the community.

As part of this celebration, UP Film Institute Asst. Professor Patrick F Campos was one of this year’s awardee of the Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro.

Here’s some excerpts from the citation read during the 2017 Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro to Prof. Patrick Campos:

Para sa kanyang maalab na pagharap sa mga hamon ng pagiging guro, hindi lamang sa kanyang mga estudyante sa mga klasrum ng UP kundi maging sa mga manggagawa ng midya at mga guro sa hayskul at kolehiyo sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa, sa pamamagitan ng kanyang adbokasiya at mga inisyatiba sa larangan ng media literacy at film studies sa loob at labas ng unibersidad;

Para sa pagiging mentor at inspirasyon ng mga estudyanteng kanyang ginabayan sa paglikha ng kanilang mga pelikula at sa pagsulat ng kanilang mga tesis, na marami ay nagkamit ng parangal, nagsipagwagi ng gantimpala, at naitanghal o nailathala sa loob at labas ng Pilipinas;

From your UPFI family, Congratulations, Prof Campos!

UPAA awards Raya Martin as one of the 2017 Outstanding Alumni for Culture and the Arts awardee

Congratulations, JP Habac for winning the First Prize (Short Narrative Category) at 44th Athens International Film and Video Festival for his film, “Maria” this April 2017.

Jury Citation:
“Maria” is a narrative that is unrelenting in its refusal to bend to our expectations of family dynamics.
We appreciated the beauty of the imagery, as well as the commitment to an ambivalent depiction of birth and familial structure.
