Lupah Sug (Land of the Brave)

By Rhadem Camlian Morados – Philippines | 2018

TRT-30 minutes

Synopsis: Lupag Sug translates to ‘land of the brave’ in Tausug, a language used by a major ethnic group hailing from Mindanao, the southernmost island of the Philippines. This half hour (30 Minutes) documentary narrates first-hand accounts of struggle for safe space and acceptance from a group of LGBTIQ people in the region. Their stories detail their experiences being LGBT and Bangsamoro, a heterogeneous ethno-linguistic group of Muslim persons from Southern Philippines who have long struggled for the right to self-determination. Their narratives reflect how only the brave are set to survive this plight.
