Brief Description
Screenwriting is the imagined film in paper with the use of words. It develops writers to think visually in telling stories. The screenplay produced by the screenwriter usually is the basis of the director for the film production.

This course is designed to introduce and cultivate the skill of screenwriting. As screenwriters are tasked to envision the film in writing, the workshop is intended to teach visual storytelling, screenwriting principles, tips in conceptualization, and screenplay design and elements.

• Introduction to writing
• Functions of screenplays
• Visualization, log lines, and conceptualization
• Role of scriptwriter
• Screenplay formats and elements
• Techniques in writing effective scripts

About the Facilitator
Choy Pangilinan teaches various film courses at the U.P. Film Institute. He has directed several films including “Bingat” the 2015 DoQC International Documentary finalist which he co-directed with Brian Quesada, Joolia Demigillo, and Abet Umil. He is also a Film Desk member of the Young Critics Circle (YCC) and member of the Congress of Teachers and Educators for Nationalism and Democracy (CONTEND).
